Appropriate hazard diamond labels must also be affixed to the tank. Unmarked vehicles transporting classified materials constitute a serious regulatory breach.

5. Safety Equipment

ADR mandates the carriage of specified safety equipment including fire extinguishers

(appropriate to the load class), personal protective equipment, chocks, warning triangles, and eye-wash solution. The exact specification depends on the substance being transported and the tunnel restriction codes applicable to the route.
